DH and I started cleaning our house for the holidays today. We moved all the living room furniture and cleaned the carpet with a rented steam cleaner. I spot-cleaned some small stains with something called the Bissell "Little Green" that we borrowed from my MIL. I dusted and polished everything. I washed the kitchen floor and all the cupboards and appliances. I washed the windows upstairs inside and out. I took the covers off the floor vents and vacuumed out the dust inside them. I cleaned the patio door track (now *that* was gross). DH spent time steam-cleaning the living room carpet, which was a big job. He also helped with a ton of dishes and cleaned and organized all his video game equipment (sometimes it threatens to take over one corner of the living room). He sorted a ton of papers and put them in the file cabinet. He got the pilot light for our electric fireplace lit (I am so scared of that thing; I think I am going to blow up the house, so I prefer that he gets it set up). I have a ton more to do... but the house already looks (and smells) a million times better! Who else is starting their holiday season cleaning? Let's motivate one another and share cleaning and organizing ideas!
