We already have a "modified" farm innovator heated waterer CLICK HERE in our coop and we needed a second one for the run. I made one today for 1/3 of the price with a 12w pipe heating cable

That is such a great idea. I use a light in a cement block with a terra-cotta pot saucer on top and same type of plastic water fount on top of that. It works pretty well, unless temps get below 20 F. This looks like it would work better. Looks like you added/glued? sand over the cable and attached a 5 gallon bucket lid over that?

Would you mind describing the details of how you attached the layers together…..gotta try it.
