We are going to attempt the homemade incubator and have assembled all parts except the ice chest. How thick does the styrofoam need to be? Does a regular styrofoam cooler work OK?
    TIA!

I've had a regular styrofoam and just built one with a rubbermaid cooler. I highly recommend spending the extra for a rubbermaid. It hold the temp and humidity MUCH better IMO.

I found a 48 qt cooler at a flea market for $5. Works well. See directions in my sig line link.
