I am wanting to convert my pigeon loft into a rabbit pen, brooder, tool storage shed. Yes, a lot I know. I want to have it easy to clean, easy to move around and and organized. Anyone have a shed that they built rabbit cages into? I think I'm going to use solid floors and shavings so that they won't be on wire. Ideas?

What do you think about this? I will use the remaining space to store tools.

You should use wire for the bottom of the cages. Solid floors tend to soak up urine and are a heck of a lot harder to clean and not as sanitary. Its a myth that the wire will hurt the rabbit. Plus they will chew on on the wood and stain themselves on the floor. Put a plastic mat in there if you want to give them something to sit on. You can get them at tsc tractor supply. Ive found it cost just as much to build a cage as it does to buy one. i have only built a few cages myself, and purchased others. Mine are all the ones that come with legs and dropping pans, so I can't help you much there.

Id also sanitize and thoroughly bleach the building before you convert it over.

Also want to comment on that link. While those cages look nice, those look like they are built for pet bunnies. that type of shelving, and the carpet is actually dangerous for a rabbit. They can easily break a leg, or their back just by jumping down off of them. most rabbits will also eat carpet. it can block their intestines up if they eat enough of it. you also have the solid floor issue too. Unless you have litter pans in them, you'd be constantly cleaning it.
