Hoover’s Hatchery French Black Copper Marans.

Anyone have BCM from Hoover’s of laying age and can share egg pictures with me? I’m curious what color eggs to expect from my girls. They are 19 weeks now. I also ordered BCM from Alchemist Farms for next year and can’t wait to receive those.

I know what color they *should* be but I’m curious as to what shade exactly people have gotten. I keep reading that Marans from big hatcheries aren’t as good of quality and don’t produce a very dark egg color so i was hoping to find some people who had them from the same Hatchery I purchased from.

My girls are laying now so I’ve got pictures to update you. They are laying a shade 4 and sometimes a 5 on the Marans Club Card.

All the eggs in these pictures. Except the 4 greens and the light tans in the nesting box picture were laid by BCM from Hoover’s.

Thank you! Appreciate it. My chicks I just got have a lot of copper already, so not sure if that's normal, but excited for dark eggs.

Well that’s not too shabby, IMO. Certainly not dark chocolate dark, but nice shades for a backyard flock! Pretty!

Yes I was pleasantly surprised. I’m still hatching some chicks from Thornfield Poultry now for those super dark chocolates
