Horrible Smell

I have a mother hen and chick that was attacked by a dog and I adopted them. But they have this horrible smell, just plain stink. And when I handle them, it doesnt come off my skin with soap and water. So I stink all day! What do I use to get rid of it??

Toothpaste may work on your hands, use it like soap. If the smell is coming from the wounds then they are infected and you need to get some antibiotic ointment on them, after cleaning. Dilute Betadine would be good for an initial cleaning, repeated only if there is pus, and rinsed off with saline, which you can make yourself. She will be susceptible to maggots, too, if you are keeping her outdoors. There is a product sold for horses that keeps flies out of wounds.
