Just wondering if the horse people could tell me their thoughts and experiences at the QH Congress in Columbus Ohio we plan on going for 4/5 days this weekend....any suggestions were we should start....first time going....thanks

Just QH HEAVEN- between Stallion Alley and the sale horse line up and the vendors and ALL the gorgeous horses everywhere..
I woudn't be able to tell you where to start...!!!
( I should add, I haven't been in a while, so things might have changed, but since it is the biggest QH show, I would think it hasn't changed that much!)

Hahaha!!! I heard you have to wear your most comfortable boots !! Is it only horses?.....Do they have places to buy lunch? etc. Were coming from Ontario Canada and I think were going to take a chance and hope to find a hotel /motel to stay....Just like the ole harley touring days.....thanks

I don't know what it is like now, but it least it *used* to be real, real hard to get a spur of the moment hotel/motel room during Congress...

Just sayin',

Pat

AHHHHH!!!!!! Okay I'll have to tell my hubby....but I know his answer already ....aw dont worry about it...you worry to much....thanks for the info....maybe we will be sleeping in a truck compared to under the stars as in the ole days....kinda cooler now thou.....

Well my hubby reserved a hotel room for a couple days about a 15 minute drive from the action......YEE HA!!
My 10 year old daughter is excited we told her last night she'll be coming with us.....She was using her beautiful blue eyes to tug on her dads heart strings for the last couple of weeks....I guess it worked....haha! ..she's also excited because this will be her first time going to the U.S.A. and she will be getting stuff for her horse....Kansas !.....

Sadly were not going....hubbies business has picked up a little and we would have to come back a day earlier..business comes first ..I didnt want to drive 7 hours each way for 2 days....soooo I have promised my daughter two days at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto....Yeah !!

Hi,
Its pretty neat to go once. We will go up one day, check stuff out. Probably wait for the last couple days. We know a couple people who show up there every year, we may stop and say hey.
You could always get a motel maybe 50 miles from there and do it that way. The ones right there will be full but if you drive an hour you'd be ok.
Its usually so big you will miss stuff because they have things going on at the same time. So you have to pick which to go to. A lot of walking.
It is usually extremely crowded.
Better bring a lot of dough, it is a lot of HIGH dollar stuff for sale. Huge trade shows.
Trucks/trailers for sale probably take up at least half of the entire fairgrounds! LOL!
You won't find too much stuff very reasonable except for maybe the last day or so, (like tail bags, whips, lead ropes etc.) when they want to get rid of stuff. Clothes, shoes/boots, jewelery, etc, are still WAY over-priced and expensive.
Otherwise, basically, its just pretty much folks wanting to be able to say they went to Congress, or bought this at Congress, etc.. Once in a blue moon you might find a deal on say a saddle? like the last week, get a nice one for $1500 or so. But it is really expensive, bottom line.
If we go up this year it will be interesting to see if the economy has hurt it any. But, Most folks just bring the ole plastic and charge up a storm at those things.
Take care,
Hope you make it one day.
Angela
