Hello, everyone! I have been occasionally "lurking" on the boards when I had a chicken question. So many of your threads have answered the exact questions or concerns I have had, that I thought I should actually join and share my (rather limited) knowledge, too. About me: My name is Meg. I live on a 15 acre farm. We have two horses (Arabian and Thoroughbred cross), 1 pony (shetland), chickens, guineas, and dogs. Oh, and a cat--but he thinks he is a dog. I have 3 children (8, 4, and 1) and am mostly a stay-at-home mom. I also have an editing business (mostly academic writing, but I am currently editing a memoir as well); however, I do not write on message boards--or read posts--with any attention to writing mechanics, spelling, or grammar. I just write like I talk. My poultry flock includes 1 ameraucana rooster (who is, sadly, a jerk), 1 ameraucana hen, 1 ameraucana cross, 3 RIRs, 1 barred rock, 1 California white, 2 guineas, and 6 chicks (barnyard mix--all by our rooster, although I know which one is purebred) being raised by one of the RIRs. Currently one guinea (the male) is sick, and I have a chicken that is just "off" so I am hoping my population does not decrease in the next few days I have had chickens or guineas for 3 years now and really love it.
