HOT in CT today!

[My Very First 6 Chickens]

Hey Chicken peeps! its a brutally hot day in CT today. I keep going outside and putting Ice in the girls water every hour. I have a fan plugged in too. nothing industrial but it offers some circulation I suppose. I did a gallon of water with the save a chick electrolytes too. Adding ice every hour. I also made a little ankle high swimming pool for them. Overall, they seem ok. They are not really active tho. More or less layin' around. I am doing the best I can but still worry. I really hate to see them with their beaks wide open. I still cant consider this normal.
Weather station says Heat advisory. yuk, the air is thick and wayyyyy hot. what are you doing to help your chickens stay cool? These girls are 14 weeks old and I hope I am doing all the correct things.

Seems like you’re doing everything right! Chickens breathe with their mouths open when they’re really hot, nothing to worry about. You can also give them cold/hydrating foods

Looks like you're doing more than me! I gave my hens some frozen treats, and a few minutes ago I turned on a sprinkler for them. It's hot out there, even here in Maine.

No, not really. They'll stand out in the rain all day, so I'm hoping they will when they get used to it.

Sounds normal.
It is hard to watch them pant.
My go-to test is to toss some treats and see if they go for them.
