I went to the insurance company today to renew my policy on farm insurance. I had to laugh when the agent told me that my rate was going to go up $50 a year because I have chickens on the farm now. Their reasoning behind it all was the best part, "Chickens are highly combustible, and therefore are a high fire risk". LMAO! I had to laugh when she told me that, don't mind paying the extra on the policy, but a high risk?! I didn't know if anyone else ever ran into this problem before and if they did if the company had a reason behind it all?

That clinches it, I'm talking with my P/C guy to find out if this is a standard issue! If nothing else, I'll get a good laugh out of him.

Quote:I wonder if they meant chicken COOPs? that is a rather important word in the sentence, but would make a little more sense, especially if you live in an area where heat lamps may be used to keep them warm?

LOL, didn't that happen on the Muppet Show?

You know that people have spontaneously combusted right?

    True story!

But the insurance thing is probably because so many people put electricity and heat in their coops and with all the shavings and dust, they go up in flames all. the. time.

It's called instantaneous combustion. Mine do it all the time. [IMG]
