Hey guys, I have lots of eggs I want to sell. I live in Kansas and I don't know how to advertise them. I don't know what the requirements are to have farm fresh, organic, free range, ect... And is it legal to advertise with those phrases in Kansas, please help.

"Organic" is trademarked - you would have to make it clear if they're not certified organic. Certification costs $600 a year last I checked.

A similar phrase is "sustainably grown".

Missouri doesn't state if small back yard flocks are exempt from needing a license or not. $5 fee for what they call Limited Retailers License which is for farmers markets. When you contact for license they'll tell you if small flocks are exempt and any other conditions. Most states require your name or farm name and physical address on each carton sold and that's it. Your not allowed to grade or size them and of course you can't say organic unless you are certified. Free range and other terms can be used.

Does the license apply to friends or people I work with too?
