How big should my coop be?

Would a 4x6 or 4x8 be big enough for 8 chickens? What's the max that will hold? (shhh....don't tell husband I want more!!!

) This is our first time raising chickens and are pretty new to all of this. We are going to buy the coop but build a run for them. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The 4x8 would provide 4 square feet per bird, which is good as long as they have access to the outside, either through a run or free range. And wont be stuck inside in the winter for an extended period.
