We bought Rhode Island Red hens the same time we bought Barred Rocks and White Leghorns. They are 5 months old but my RIR's are about 1/3 smaller in size than the others. Are RIR usually smaller in size than other breeds?

they are usually about the size of barred rocks. I am suprised your leghorns arent the smallest they tend to be slender especially HQ. are sure the RIRs are bantams and the others are LF? there isnt really a guide on at some many months they should be at this weight, pretty much just expereience. If you post a pic we can tell if she is appropriate size.

Our Leghorns are the biggest, then the Barred Rocks are close behind. We ordered Rhode Island Reds from a feed store 5 months ago so we just assumed that's what we have. I don't know.
