I just peeled some apples to make fried apples and wondered if the chickens can eat the peels. It seems a shame to waste them.

You may not want to feed too many apple seeds to anything. They contain cyanogenic glycosides - releasing cyanide during digestion. I don't suppose they would normally be eaten in lethal amounts but who knows how many a bored chicken would eat if a lot of seeds were around in the pen.
I've always felt pretty good about throwing away peelings from fruit that I was pretty sure had been sprayed with pesticides [IMG].

I think it takes a bunch of apple seeds to be harmful!

I've read that a cup of seeds was reported to have killed some idiot . . .

I give my hens apple cores.

My chicken love the apples too. But you might have to be careful with the apple skin. People use a lot of chemical for the apples to keep the bugs away from them. [IMG] Noriko.

I am sure if the skin is washed and you don't feed a ton of the seeds you should be fine, when mine swarm to apples each bird only get's a taste.
