How did I get a white chick from a black langshan RIR cross?

This year I had a hen who went broody & no matter what I tried I couldn’t break her. Wire cage. Wouldn’t let her keep any eggs. Kicking her out of nesting boxes. Tried for over a month with no success so I finally gave in & let her hatch some eggs. I’ve got a big & beautiful black langshan rooster whom I love & has always been a great daddy to any babies that we introduce to the flock. My hens are RIR, wellsummer, olive eggers, black langshan hens, & a red speckled Sussex we call jiggle sister. She hatched out mostly my pure langshan eggs I gave her but also 2 from my RIR. 8 of her 12 eggs hatched. The last to hatch was one of the RIR eggs & the chick came out pure white! I’m very confused. It’s now 3 weeks old & is getting a bunch of its feathers in & their white as well! Is this just a fluke? Please help. I’m going to let this baby grow up & stay because it’s so unique. Once it’s hatch mates are weaned from momma they will go to their new homes.

Is that your only RIR? Do you have a picture that shows her tail feathers?
I had 2 but one went to my sisters house. The other is still with me & it’s from her egg that I got the white chicken from. I’ll get a better picture of her this afternoon.

Huh. Do you have any other hens that could be the mother that are white or have white tail feathers?
I have a red sex link that’s got white tail feathers but her eggs are tan. This little one came out of a dark brown egg. Only my RIR & welsummer have that color. I do have a buff orphington in my flock but again her eggs are huge & light brown. Here’s some pictures of my little Blanca now that she’s 4 weeks old.

A red sex link could definitely create that color- they have dominant white, which replaces black with white.

Another possibility is recessive white. If the chick ends up pure white without any red or black feathers, that could be the case.
