How did I get a WHITE Chick???

    The roo is a bantam Splash Sizzle Cochin & the Hen is a bantam Blue Sizzle Cochin....... How did I get a WHITE baby??? and he is completely SNOW WHITE!!

    I blame it on the silkie roo, that white chick looks to be a bit silkie. Plus, white I think is one of those funky colors that can hide with other colors.

    So it probably came from one of the grandparents then? I know the hens parents were Black Cochin & a Blue Silkie so it must have been from the Rooster's side. I have, i think, 2 more solid white chicks so far but there's only the 3 out of about 50 chicks this year.

    Simple - both parents are carrying the Recessive White gene.

    Hey I got the exact same thing, out of a blue silkie roo and a black/partrige silkie hen, and I got a white chick on her first batch of 9 chicks.
