I know that incubators should have 65+% but what about hens?

Sometimes a hen will dip her chest in water to get her feathers damp before she goes back to the nest.

Hens go into "lockdown" just like we simulate with an incubator. In the first 18 days they will get off the nest once or twice a day to eat, drink and poop, but in the last few days they won't even do that. By sitting on the eggs without a break, they increase the humidity as the eggs are no longer exposed to the drying effects of the air, but are constantly surrounded by the hen's warmth & moisture.
