How do hatcheries and feed stores sex EE chicks?

Do they wait to sell them when they are older? I have 3 that I was told are 2 weeks or older and everyone says they are to young so I am just trying to understand how I am able to order pullets but apparently there is no real way to tell if they are yet.

Most hatcheries have people that preform vent or wing sexing. And feed stores get their chicks from a hatchery.

Every time I have ordered some all pullet EE's from a hatchery-I always use them to fill the minimum order when I don't have enough to avoid packing roo peanuts I have never had all pullets come.Always 1 or 2 out of 5 have turned out to be roos so as good as they are at sexing they still have problems with the EE's-I have done it with all the major hatcheries and they have all been the same.
Lesson learned=just get straight run and save some money on them.

I believe most hatchery's claim only 90 percent accuracy (sp?) on sexing any chicks, so expect 1 out of 5. I have had many shipments that were 100 percent, some closer to 90.
