Give it some time. I'd imagine the first day is a day few of lots of new things and takes some acclimating to. I have three 11 day old ducklings, and some are still skittish with us. [IMG]

    Congrats on your hatchling [IMG]

Your baby will soon come to associate you with food and be less afraid of you. Patience is needed right now.

    Good luck

When my duckling hatched and his mama rejected him, I brought him in the house and treated him just like mama duck would, I carried an old clean towel around with me and I would put it over top of him and he would cuddle up and go to sleep, similar to being under mamas feathers. When he was with me which was alot he had the choice to go under the towel and other times I would take him outside and let him walk around with me, walk slowly. sit with your baby duck and talk gently to it. If you were the first person it saw when it hatched you are it's mother. Congrats!!
