How do I know my chicks sex

Hi everybody

I’m new and live in the uk so go easy on me , we have 5 chickens one chick which is 2 weeks old and we are wondering how to tell if it’s a cockerel or a hen any advice would be great ? .

At say, 6+ weeks, submit a photo of him/her to the forum 'What Breed Or Gender Is This?'
The comb and wattles are the biggest giveaway, and later on the saddle and hackle feathers.
Roosters combs and wattles go red much faster than hens.

Hello and welcome! What breed is it? Some kinds of chicks can be sexed at hatch, like sexlinks, however for most breeds you have to wait until they are 6-8 weeks old. I'm sure if you post pics someone experienced could help.

If the comb turns red at 5 or 6 weeks you know you have a male. If you could post a picture it would help a lot.

Well that's not true, look at my boy at 10 week... And look him today. At 5 /6 week he was completely out of any redness or comb development.

But a hen with a red comb at six weeks would be rare. That is what @red horse ranch was saying. And they are correct.

These chicks are 3 weeks old today. The 2 males are obvious because of their combs.
p.s. Not all breeds are this easy to identify sex. These are mixed breeds
