I want to know what sex my smooth breasted Sebastopol is?
How do I find out for free?
You would need to vent sex or wait to see if it lays eggs.
You can pluck three breast feathers and submit them to Avian Biotech to be DNA sexed
oops, I think that link is only for goslings. MUCH MUCH harder on adults.
For free... well... just wait to see if it lays an egg .
But I'd go with CelticOaks' advice
I saw a guy once grab a full-grown African, flip him, and hold him between his legs and vent-sex him. Didn't look very easy, but it got the job done.
Now THAT'S courage!
Ihave done that with Dewlap Toulouse and Sebastopols. Alittle adjusting and a good chair helps get the job done on an adult bird
So what do you look for in the vent?
if nothing comes out it is a girl.
If a long flesh colored curly worm comes out its a boy
