I have two 8 week old poults that are obviously bronze, from MMH...but how do I tell if they are standard or not? Or is there no way to know until they mature? I would like to keep them to breed if standard, but if they are BB, they go in the roasting pan!

If they size up fast, they are BB types. The heritage turkeys tend to be pretty much built like layer type chickens. BB types also have a shorter breast bone.

Right now at eight weeks they are pretty even in size with my black spanish and a white one that I cant identify...the white is a hair smaller than the others...so do you think standard, or is it too early?
