How do I use this waterer?

I bought a waterer off of Craigslist that looks like this...

The person I bought from said you can attach it to a 5 gallon bucket but... I have no idea how to do that and what parts I need to make that work. Any help would be appreciated.

hey ncchixlady all you half to do is get a five gal bucket and drill a hole in the bottom of the bucket on the side just a little bit smaller than the rubber hose and stick the hose in and fill with water.

Ok... DH went to Lowes and got the adapter and it now works BUT how do I adjust it, how far do I fill the ball thing underneath... basically, how do I set it up to work. There were no instructions with it and I don't know what I am doing. Thanks so much.

I have some kinda like that and i filled them all most full .
