My brother gave me 4- 8oz ELK steaks. I've never cooked ELK. How should I cook them?

I would try the pan method with oven finish...

"Preheat oven to 425°F. Moisten the meat with 1 Tablespoon oil, then dredge each steak in the cracked pepper. Heat the remaining oil in a skillet over high heat. Add 4 Tablespoons butter. Add the steaks and cook on all sides for 5 minutes. Finish in the oven, about 5 to 7 minutes for rare and 10 minutes for medium-rare. Remove pan from oven and let rest."

Sounds good. Have you tried this recipe? Does ELK taste like DEER?

I've tried this method on beef steaks and it's great. Elk to me tastes more like beef than deer.
