Do you cook it or not necesssarily? I know that the warm oatmeal has been mentioned on the forum for a warm snack in the cold weather.

I do the quick oats and cook it up. I have plates in the runs and generally glop some down and step back fast. They love the stuff! I only do it when the weather gets cold though. In the summer I switch to occasional yogurt. In the winter though it is a good way to warm them up in the mornings.

I just let them eat the raw (not instant) oatmeal right out of my hands. Always a big hit!

Thank you and I just found another thread that is all about oats so I guess I really have all my questions answered.

I give mine a handful of raw oats each morning, they love it!!! We'll have a heat lamp for the really cold weather....

Today I mixed homemade yogurt and raw oatmeal for the girls. They wiped it out faster than the frozen homemade yogurt with bananas! Next time I will have to remember to wear a rainsuit...the yogurt was flying every which way.

This is the afternoon treat for my chickens. I've been able to lure some of the more shy youngsters in close enough to eat out of my hands once the older girls (and the rooster and ducks) are done. They always need a drink of water right afterward.

I fed my chickens some quaker oats today, I fed it out of my hand, one of the hens was pecking my hand like crazy just trying to eat the oats.. next time I'll just throw it on the ground as scratch or just mix it in with their regular feed

My dad witnessed me jumping up in pain, and turning red. All he said was; (HAHAHAHAH) 'you learned your lesson'
