Is Maran pronounced:
Marans, with an "s"
The Marans is a breed of chicken originating in France.
I say Ma Rans but good question. It probably depends on where you live; I live in the South & we slaughter lots of words.
That the way I pronounce it but I talked with someone else today and he pronounced it the other way. I'm from Oklahoma and he's from Texas so we are both from the south too. I don't care which way it is. Just as long as I say it correctly around people who know.
Ma (not the AAAAAHHHH sound, but the other sound that a makes) -Rans
I was told the 's' was silent... but I say mare(like a female horse)n.
Does "a" make a "you" sound???
GOT IT! OOOh! You're GOOD Dandelions!
The "s" is silent....or so I was always told.
I say it like...
Mmmm- air- ann
