How do you pronounce Maran?

    Marans, with an "s"

    The Marans is a breed of chicken originating in France.

    I say Ma Rans but good question. It probably depends on where you live; I live in the South & we slaughter lots of words.

    That the way I pronounce it but I talked with someone else today and he pronounced it the other way. I'm from Oklahoma and he's from Texas so we are both from the south too. I don't care which way it is. Just as long as I say it correctly around people who know.

    I was told the 's' was silent... but I say mare(like a female horse)n.
