how do you sex muscoveys?

    can anyone tell me how to sex muscovey ducks around 10 weeks old?

    You will be able to tell by their size - Drakes are pretty much double the size of the females, massive feet and thick legs [​IMG] They are very obvious.

    That's what I was thinking too. Plus, muscovies have the caruncling, and I believe the drakes have more of it, and get it before the hens.

    Muscoveys don't, they are one of the few breeds that don't. That about all I know about them. The tail feathers grow in about 4 months anyway.

    Mine do not have the curly feathers.. And I was told that males/females differ in their speed of growing their flight feathers and their carunkles as well, however, all of mine had everything grow in so close together it was a very unreliable way to tell them apart.

    That's interesting and very good to know. One of these days I hope to get some Muscovies. [​IMG] My family says only when I move out. They hate the way Muscovies' faces look. Personally I think it's adorable. [​IMG]
