I have my first Silkies. I wondered how you are supposed to tell their sex. I have never had Silkies. Does the comb signify anything like in other breeds? Their feathers look the same. In most breeds the roosters have pointed Hackle feathers. The Silkies do not seem to. I can see some combs are larger and some are smaller.
Any help would be appreciated.

The males top knot will have a somewhat combed back look to it with thin shooters(feathers), and the girlys will have this pompom looking pouf for their top knot. Some guys have the pouf but still will have the shooters going back. Males larger combs than females, a little fluctuation in the saddle feathers as in slightly darker or some shiny ones.

ETA: And sometimes you just have to wait for an egg or a crow....

My Roos are also a bit more aggressive. Not that they are mean. In fact they are usually the champion protector and peacemaker of the coop.

They do seem to watch and strut more and once in awhile take the fighting stance. My girls are more quiet and calm. Prefer to just get along.
