I hatched out 5 eggs under a broody. She was an excellent mother, very protective.
Only absolutely the best before, during and after...
Awesome! I put eggs under 3 broodies this week alone. Just a little while ago, I put Sebright eggs under a bantam cochin hen, and she just settled right down on top of them. She'd been sitting on a ceramic egg for the past couple of days, so I figured I'd give her some real ones to sit on.
I'll take broodies over an incubator any day!
Nature's incubator cannot be beaten.
She does all the laying, all the turning, expelling bad eggs, raising her babies, exposing them to cocci, teaches them how to eat and drink and be chickens....all with no extra power bill!!
Oh! and integrates the babies into your flock
Oh! and no poopy brooders in your laundery room
...really I could go on and on
Quote:Ditto again !!
They are the hardest iincubator to adjust temp. and humidity on....
thats like asking if fish are good swimmers
I think I like the "No poopy brooders in the laundry room" the best....
