how high can they fly

    cary 1973 Chillin' With My Peeps

    where the chiken coop and run is being built i have 7 foot brick walls all around it do i need to worry about making a roof where they can not fly into the alley or neighbors hard or is 7 foot high enough

    The highest I've seen my 7 weeks olds fly is about 4 feet. Been doing that since they were about a month old. Have heard of some going over 6 foot fences though.

    That's going to depend on the individual chickens. a 7-foot wall is going to be plenty high for most, but you could have one that's determined to get out one way or another! You should also consider if there is anything in the run area that they can get on top of that they can use for a step to get over the wall. (Like the top of the coop, for instance!) And also consider if you need a roof for predator protection - a 7-foot wall is easy for a raccoon to get over.
