I am new to chickens. My baby chicks will be 4 weeks old this weds. I am finishing up my coop and run this weekend. I would like to let them stay out during the day and bring them in at night. I am in Orlando and the heat index today is 103-105. Their area is under 2 huge oak trees near a lake. The last 2 days I have taken them out to their run and sat with them for 2 hours, today it is just tooooo hot. Should I bring them in during the hottest part of the day. They are getting so big and need to come out of their brooder and they are smelling up my office.

Make sure they have plenty of water and even more shade. They will be ok in the heat. You can give them a pan of water to wade in, misters, or freeze water-filled milk jugs. They can sit on the jug if they need to--or you can put the jug in a rubbermaid for an AC-d room.
