Found 10 eggs in the woods. Assuming an egg a day, that makes the oldest one 10 days old. If looking to eat them, how long are eggs good for? I thought I read somewhere about 12 days.

    Thanks,

Are you wanting to hatch them?

It depends upon the temps in your area. It also depends upon how many hens are using that nest to lay. I keep eggs on the kitchen counter for 2 months sometimes, like right now when they are laying like crazy! Keep in mind, if the hen(s) have been sitting on them, there may be development.

I highly recommend breaking them into a separate bowl for visual and smell testing before using.

Generally we don't refrigerate our own laid eggs. If I found them in the woods I'd probably do what the previous poster said and crack them in separate bowls. I'd bet they are fine.

    float test them..
if they sink they are good to eat..
if they stand on an end but stay submerged they are great for hard boiled eggs..
if they float throw them out
