I've heard of chickens living to as old as 18 years old.

How long they lay depends on if they are forced to lay year round or not, via increased lighting over winter. I have a friend who has hens ranging 8-10 years old and they still lay a random egg now and then.

I think my Banty Roosters are immortal. [IMG] [IMG] They are going over 10 years now and still just as fertile as the young roos !!!! I also have hens that lay just fine at this age also !
