Our Easter Egger is fostering 5 Silkies/ Sizzles. They are one week old. This is our first batch of babies that our hens have hatched and we are going to give them all away except 1. How long do we have to keep them with their mom? The people that are going to take them don't want to put them under lights so they have to be ready to be on their own. I don't mind keeping them since I am enjoying watching mommy take care of her babies.
So how old can they be without mom and still stay warm?

They need to stay with momma until they are 5-6 weeks old. Then they are good to go.

BTW: I wouldn't let any of them go ALONE.. they should be sold or given away in twos and threes.
