how old is a buff orphington normaly before their egg laying stops or becomes of less quality?
Egg production usually PEAKS around 2 yrs of age. However they will continue to lay pretty good for a long time past that.
Production chickens are usually sent off to slaughter because the lower production = lower profits.
BUT for backyard flocks, they will lay just fine for a long time past that.
how long is "longer" usually? typically?
anybody? about how many years before production usually falls off?
