How long does it take for egg-laying to "even out"?

One of my hens, a Welsummer, laid her first egg this weekend. Her second one was today, and it was much darker and less noticeable speckles. I know that it takes a while for their bodies to adjust to egg-laying, but how long until they're fairly consistent?

Some of mine are consistent from the start, others seem to need some breaks. But I'd say within a month it should be mostly worked out.
