Well, Mary, one of my year old Brahmas, ATE one of my Alpine Party Pro earplugs!!!! I was taking them out of the box to put in my ears to block the pounding of the rain on the metal roof and I dropped one. Mass chaos ensued and I couldn’t grab it or her. She grabbed it from someone during the chase and gulped it down. The plug is made from silicone, but it has a metal filter that fits very tightly in one end. I’m pretty sure she will be able to pass the whole earplug without any problems. How long does it usually take for a chicken to pass something through their digestive tract?

Okay...I'm done laughing now. (What a crazy thing to happen).

My quick google search indicates about 4 hours...fowl have a fast track.

My concern would be getting stuck in the crop. It could get ground up a bit there.

Hopefully this too shall pass.

I was kicking myself too hard to laugh at the time, but after she passes it, it will be a hoot.

She ate it at about nine o’clock this morning, so it could be any time. I cleaned out the run this afternoon and didn’t see it, so maybe tonight. Fingers crossed it goes through her like the proverbial grease through the goose!

Did she ever pass it?

Did she ever pass it?
Nary a clue. I think she pooped it out in the woods before I realized that her digestive tract processes everything so quickly! The get a morning hour and an afternoon hour or so outside with me, so she probably passed it while she was out running around and eating bugs. She seems fine, never was distressed, soooooo... 🤷🏼‍♀️
