How long will layer food keep in a air tight metal bin????

Could anyone please tell me how long layer food will keep in a metal garbage can in my basement?? I don't need to use it until my chicks are a little older. Thanks.

If dry...a long time. You could even add a couple of silica packs for moisture prevention.

Isn't caution urged with storing feed in metal garbage cans....possibly a problem of condensation forming inside the metal enclosure?

Only if they are outside you do have problems with moisture. Like mine I had to line it with heavy duty garbage bags and it did a good job.

If inside, it was never a problem.
