How many cant stand their inlaws? *ranting*

  1. I know that Im ONE OF THEM! ARGH!
Yeah they can be helpful when needed, but butting their noses into places that don't belong is one thing that DRIVES ME CRAZY!
FIL is a control freak, everything has to be his way, even if it is not his house!

FIL is over today helping hubby work on the truck and my van. Kids are outside with them while I am inside trying to get some stuff done around the house.
I just got the kitchen cleaned up from breakfast but still had silverware and utinsels to wash, I always wash by hand, while everything else is in the dishwasher, running. I left the utensils in the sink and went to wipe down the stove and counters when FIL came in looking over my shoulders at what I was doing. He asked what I was using for cleaning the stove, I told him I always wash with bleach/water first then after drying it down, I wipe with Pine Sol spray or Mr. Clean Fabreeze for a fresher smell. He went on and on and on how I was doing everything all wrong. I told him politely thanks for telling me but I like how I do it.
Then he went to the bathroom and called me in. He complained that the toilet was brown inside. I told him that the well water is causing it to do that, not the lack of flushing. He called me a liar! Said I don't clean worth [IMG] I told him that if it was from lack of flushing, the brown will be STAIN, but it wasn't, and I proved it to him, stuck my hand in the toilet and using a finger, I wiped up parts of it and it came off easily, pulled my hand out and my finger had brown, sandlike substances at the tip of it. He walked away muttering.
Then he started complaining about the toys in the livingroom. I asked what's wrong with that? I got kids, kids come with toys. He said that they don't belong in the livingroom, they need to go to their bedroom. I was just at my endpoint and I was not feeling all that good today. I snapped at him that it was MY house and that I would have MY House the way I WANT IT TO BE and if he doesn't like it, don't let the door hit him on the way out!

ARGH! Sorry I just had to RANT! Had to get all this out before I explode 10x more then I should! He is still here helping hubby out but now he is staying out of my WAY!

Is he one of those types of men that expected his wife to keep the house spotless? Did he help around the house at all when he was younger? I have found that the less housework a man does, the more he complains.

Next time, hand him a mop and tell him that you will let him clean the house to his specifications.

My FIL and his wife are like that. He will argue with hubby and put him down until hubby just let's him take charge. His wife knows she's not welcome in my house after what she has said about my housekeeping and cooking.

What I really cannot stand is how FIL will put hubby down. He will make comments about his weight when FIL is the one with a weight problem. Hubby tries not to let FIL know that it bothers him, but then I see how it hurts him later. I finally went off on FIL one day when he literally went out of his way to pat hubby on the stomach and make a comment. I didn't let him know that it bothers hubby, I just told him that it annoys me. It's been almost 6 months now and I haven't heard him say anything. Then again, I've been making an effort to avoid them too.

Tell him "Thanks for keeping my husband in line, I wouldn't want him to turn out as huge as you!"

lol, as much as I'd love to, hubby would kill me. Disrespect runs in his family. Last time they were at our house, his twin sister told hubby to kiss her behind. He was simply asking her what she was throwing away out of a box of stuff from their dead mother. I had a really hard time staying out of that one. Hubby lost it.

    Edited for language. ~Lisa~

I have a friend whos in-laws call her a bad mom because her living room dosn't have toys in it! They say because the main room dosn't have the toys in it it means the kids are not the center of the lfe or whatever. It seema like whatever you do, someone is going to have a problem dosn't it? The old saying "you can only please some people part of the time" is my motto. You gotta do what works for your family, not someone else's family.
