    I sell my chickens not by weight, just by how many do you want, what age, breed etc. I don't sell dressed birds, sorry I can't help you there.

    I think you're asking live versus dressed weights. Expect about a 33% loss from live to dressed.

    for those of us that are raising just a few birds. we can only sell live birds. we can dress them after as a service. (mine prefer a tux)
    that is because (as i remember) we are not licensed or certified to process animals.
    That would be why most people sell by bird not by weight.
    even then only so many a year before you have to be licensed or certified. (USDA??)

    better not to break some rules.
