how much feed?

i just ran out of starter feed. my chicks will be 5 weeks old wednesday. so how much should I get for 6 chicks, and should i get some layer feed too, they should start that at 6 weeks right?
so far i have went threw 30 lbs does that sound about right, or was most of it wasted?

My 5 chicks are 5wks and we haven't even gotten half way through our first 50lbs. It seems like a lot to me.
We do get alot of wasted food also.
We go through a mason jar of feed a day.
You don't want to get layer feed till they start laying and that won't be for another 12-15wks at the early.
I have had them on starter/grower combo mix from the start.
