How much food do 4 fresh battery hens need?

A pound a day will feed all four birds. You can add to that if need be.

I would free feed until dark and then remove what is left for the night.

They will eat as much as they need. Many people do not remove food at night, but I do as we have mice.
God Help the little mice who try to eat the feed during the day when the chickens can see them. They will become an added protein source
