How much space per chick?

    Next year I'm probably getting chicks, in between January to the beginning of summer. But how much space does a chick need in their brooder? They would be going with the older birds when their feather grew in. Would card board boxes taped together work, (Obviously with a heat lamp) and would they be fine in the garage? Sorry, I'm not good at wording things...

    I think it is 6"sq for day 1 to 2 weeks. 1'sq for 2-4 weeks. 1-2'sq for 4+ weeks.
