I live in Kansas. Do you take a special course on wildlife care or anything.

What are you wanting to do?
*I don't think it is wise to advertise your young age*

Well there is a lady I met that raises orphaned baby birds, rabbits, ratcoons, injured animals and things like that.

Are you wanting to help her? I would think maybe she could tutor you without a permit. If you are wanting to aquire orphaned wildlife, then yes would will need a permit, they probably will not issue one to a minor.

most people have to apprentice awile, meaning help and learn from someone else. That would be good to do first. It is a big commetment, some animals need 24 hour care.... most people who do it are retired or stay at home moms and such. School and or work is hard to do with baby animals.

just my 2 cents.

I got my BS in wildlife managment and during the summers, I worked with the local humane society and local farms tending to animals. Is not as glamorous as it may seem, most of the time you will be cleaning cages feeding, watering...not much interaction with the animals per say......! If you know someone would does wildlife rehab. you may ask them if you could help out and learn. But be prepared to get dirty!

Yea I went in her house and she had 3 baby ratcoons in a huge cage somehow they managed to get out at night and they tipped over a whole bookshelf.

Yes it requires college and specific course study to become a wildlife specialist or rehabber. Just as it does for falconry or to handle eagles.

It is a worthy goal to set but it can be a lot of work.
