I have some 1 years old bantam hens. They have laid eggs for around 6 months. Now I want to breed some chickens and going to buy a mature rooster. I found one Bantam ameraucana rooster in my local area. While I don't know if he is old enough to fertilize the eggs. Can anybody give me some advice and tell me how old the rooster is best for breed.? Thank you.

Look for a rooster that is at least 6months old. They are often fertile before this, but may not be impressive enough for the hens to decide they will let him mate before that.
