How old?

Hey guys, I need your opinion. 3 nights ago I bought 5 ee's and 1 rir at Rural King!! I watched them the same morning unload them into the bins. This is my accidental, first time owning chicks, so I've never ordered them before.

I'm wondering how old they were when I bought them? Any clues?

They're usually shipped just after hatching, so ptobably between 24 and 48 hours old. Maybe younger if they were handled by a dedicated shipper.

They do seem pretty small compared to the last 2 purchases.

I think they'll work out fine for you. The longer they sit in a brooder at a retail store the more likely they are to be neglected or get sick. Give them a month and they'll all look the same age. Most poultry grows quickly, but chickens seem to be the fastest growers.

I was just curious. I'd like to get the dates as close as possible. With the health part, we've had 2 previous chicks have 'pasty butt' , but only twice each. I put that in quotes because it was mostly just stuck to the 'fur'.
