My female muscovy is setting on four eggs. One hatched and the others have not yet. Does the duckling need access to water right now. If not, how soon?

It doesn´t need water yet, they´re fine for a day or so as they have the rest of the yoke to keep them going, and it´s quite natural for them to have to wait until the others are hatched and ready. Mum will lead them to the water for a drink when the time´s right.

Thanks for the help. One duckling hatched out of five eggs. It appears to be healthy and strong and is now eating and drinking. Mom seems to be taking excellent care. So sweet to see him/her nestled under the wing. Time will tell . . .

The duckling should do fine, muscovies are very good mums, she´ll take total care of it. I often leave just 2 eggs with my muscovies, so they´ll rear just 1 or 2. Very nice, enjoy your duckling.
