One of my hens has a build up of droppings on her bottom feathers. What is the best way to remove this? Sorry, just a newcomer...

I give them a sitz bath in the sink. Make sure she is all dry before you put her back outside. Most of them actually seem to like the blow dryer on low [IMG] so if you're in a hurry that's a good option. Does she have something else going on that is making her have loose stools? Sometimes it happens just 'cause their butts are so fuzzy, if that's the case I'd do a quick trim after the bath.

I have a hen that had a leg injury from falling ro jumping (not sure which) that got a little messy when she didn't move around too much. I put about 5 inches of warm water in a plastic tub with some epsom salt in it and just let her soak then massaged her abdomen and worked the 'build up' loose. She absolutely loved it! Just make sure she gets good and dry so she doesn't get chilled.

OK thanks for the advice. Are there reasons her stools could be runny that I should be concerned about? The other 3 hens have clean bottoms.
