Hi, I recently purchased some perches, and a nesting box off Facebook, they have been used for other chickens, so I was wondering how to disinfect so that my chickens can use them safely. Was thinking about a bleach mix letting it set then power washing them, please let me know if I'm WAY off base about this cleaning method, and what you would recommend. Thanks!!!

I would power wash first. Then spray down with diluted bleach.

When I power washed the used coop I am working on, it caused the wood to be “hairy” with a bunch of tiny splinters. So, you may need to lightly sand the perch afterwards to prevent little foot splinters from happening.

The splinters is why I don't power wash. If there is a lot of caked on, hardened pooh left on it, hose it down first, keep it damp long enough to soften the dried on stuff, then keep hosing it off. You can use a larger 2 gallon type pump sprayer to apply the soapy water, and the bleach water.
