How to fatten my girls up.

I'd just feed them more or get meat bird crumble

Welcome to BYC! Corn is always good to help gain some fat. Just don't over feed them corn. Some scratch might help as well.

It has been my experience that birds going through their molt just don't eat as much. When they finished growing their feathers out they will regain the weight. I do support them by giving them extra meat protein two to three times a week during the molt.

Hiya, Cyndi, and wow, hugely belated welcome to BYC!

When my silkies molt, they just look skinny for a few months as they aren't all fluffy. I just feed every chick, chicken, or duck here, Kalmbach's Flock Maker, which is 20% protein. The high protein helps with feather growth, among other things.

We don't feed them corn, as it's bad for them to get too much, and it's already the first ingredient in most feeds. They keep their weight on with that. Scratch for them is a layer feed, Kalmbach's Henhouse Reserve.

Welcome to BYC! I've heard that giving them corn while they are molting isn't great, but boosting their protein intake with some mealworms is a good way to help them through the molt.
